Pam Ayres, Judy Finnegan, Sir John Major, Mary McCartney, Robert Skidelsky and many more coming soon to Folkestone as part of this year’s Book Festival!

The Creative Foundation is delighted to officially announce the programme of this year’s Folkestone Book Festival. Curated by Geraldine D’Amico, it includes an array of subjects, authors and special events for people of all ages and backgrounds.

Geraldine explains, “History will play a huge part of the festival, from the very history of our planet through the Romans, the Normans, forgotten Queens, to the Raj and the Gentry and the history of music hall told by Sir John Major. Fiction also makes a strong appearance with Judy Finnegan, from the Richard and Judy show, presenting her new novel Eloise, Sandra Howard and Jon Canter and two Polish writers on the troubles in their country.

We even have two festival reads: Fahrenheit 451 by Ray Bradbury and The Best Exotic Marigold Hotel by Deborah Moggach, as well as music events with the magical Piers Faccini and the Canadian band The Fugitives, laughter with Pam Ayres, sport with golf addict David Godwin, food with Mary McCartney and James Wong, free events offered by UCF and fun activities for children.”

Alastair Upton, new Chief Executive of the Creative Foundation says, “It’s our aim to transform Folkestone and make it all about books and the exchange of ideas for those days every November. This year we are spread across the town from the Saga Pavilion through to our base in the Quarterhouse, taking in the Leas Cliff Hall, The Grand, Googies and the Glassworks on the way. We have a programme for all ages starting with pre-school and writers for all tastes.”
